Beat Saber Levels
I have produced numerous custom Beat Saber levels using the community made level creator: Mediocre Map Assistant 2. I began making levels for Beat Saber after I had used a community made AI level creator wherein you could input a song and it would generate you a level with blocks and obstacles placed to the song. However, the AI was fairly poor, placing objects offbeat or switching between vocals and instrumental placements.
I began the process by watching various tutorials on how to create custom Beat Saber levels. Beat Saber itself has a custom level creator built into it, but at the time, this level editor was extremely difficult to create levels in for various reasons. This led to the community making their own editor and tutorials based around using that instead of the editor published by the developers.
I then began to experiment with the editor to see what each placeable level element was so that I knew what elements I could create levels with.
From there, I chose a song that I would create a level for and began to place blocks at intervals where I wanted an object to be. This way, I could have the entire song mapped out and ready to have a proper movement flow designed around it.

Because Beat Saber is a VR game, the player physically moves their hands to hit each note. It is important to consider where the player's hands should be after hitting each note so that notes aren't placed in a spot that could feel awkward for the player to hit or just simply be impossible.
I also have to consider this when placing obstacles (bombs and walls) as the player needs to be able to dodge these obstacles in a natural and possible manner.
If the player hits a bomb or wall, their combo is lost, or they can lose the level entirely if touched for too long.
Once the objects are placed in a satisfying and fun positions that flow well from one to another, I then begin to place lighting into the level. Lighting typically follows the instrumental and isn't a necessary feature to make the level playable, but it does make the level feel polished and more satisfying when you see the lighting change after hitting a block or seeing blocks appear.

And that is the complete process for making levels for Beat Saber. I have created a few levels which can be viewed and downloaded via the link below. I do not own any rights to any of the music that I have made levels for.
